Building Detection from Multiple Views

چکیده
In this paper we presented a novel approach for building detection from multiple aerial images in dense urban areas. The approach is based on accurate surface reconstruction, followed by extraction of visible building facades, then used as a main cue for building detection. For the facade detection a simple but nevertheless flexible and robust algorithm is proposed. It is based on observation that building facades correspond to the accumulation of 3D data, available from different views, in the object space. Knowledge-driven thresholding of 3D data accumulators followed by Hough transformbased segment detection results in facade extraction. The extracted facades are not only explicitly geo-referenced, but their visible sides are also tracked. Then, 3D regions resulting from surface reconstruction procedure and bounded by the extracted facades are detected as building hypotheses through testing a set of spatial criteria. The approach has been tested on the complex and dense urban scenes, and demonstrated a good rate of building detection.

Knowledge - Based Building Detection and Description : 1997 - 1998
An overview of a system for building detection and description using multiple views is given and its performance is evaluated. Use of cues from sensors such as IFSAR is included and helps improve the performance substantially. An option for user assisted operation is also described which is able to produce highly accurate models with relatively small efforts from a user.
متن کاملIntroducing An Efficient Set of High Spatial Resolution Images of Urban Areas to Evaluate Building Detection Algorithms
The present work aims to introduce an efficient set of high spatial resolution (HSR) images in order to more fairly evaluate building detection algorithms. The introduced images are chosen from two recent HSR sensors (QuickBird and GeoEye-1) and based on several challenges of urban areas encountered in building detection such as diversity in building density, building dissociation, building sha...
متن کاملSingle-Side Two-Location Spotlight Imaging for Building Based on MIMO Through-Wall-Radar
Through-wall-radar imaging is of interest for mapping the wall layout of buildings and for the detection of stationary targets within buildings. In this paper, we present an easy single-side two-location spotlight imaging method for both wall layout mapping and stationary target detection by utilizing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) through-wall-radar. Rather than imaging for building wal...
متن کاملAutomatic Detection of Buildings with Rectangular Flat Roofs from Multi-view Oblique Imagery
Automatic building detection plays an important role in many applications. Traditionally, buildings were detected from monocular or multi-view images, DEM or DSM, and laser scanner data. Oblique imagery is a relatively new data source with distinct advantages: it provides detailed information on facades and multiple views from various perspectives. In this paper we present exploration tests usi...
متن کاملHough Forests Revisited: An Approach to Multiple Instance Tracking from Multiple Cameras
Tracking multiple objects in parallel is a difficult task, especially if instances are interacting and occluding each other. To alleviate the arising problems multiple camera views can be taken into account, which, however, increases the computational effort. Evoking the need for very efficient methods, often rather simple approaches such as background subtraction are applied, which tend to fai...
